Comparison The Sniper and "The Last Stop"

The theme of inhumanity of war can be seen between the short story and song I have chosen.  In 'The Sniper' by Liam O'Flaherty and the song 'The Last Stop' by Dave Matthews Band show how war has a huge affect on people.  In 'The Sniper', the Sniper was determined to kill the rival and was happy when he did.  But later did he realize that he shot and killed his own brother without knowing he was the enemy. “Then when the smoke cleared, he peered across and uttered a cry of joy.  His enemy had been hit."  From that quote the reader can understand that the sniper was content after the bullet penetrated the rival and killed him.  War has the ability to make anyone hate each other without a legit reason and the civilians will be forced to pick a side, killing anyone who is on the other side.  "Then the sniper turned over the dead body and looked into his brother's face".  In 'The Sniper' we can see that the sniper and his brother chose two different sides and eventually one killed the other.  The song ‘The Last Stop’ by Dave Matthews Band is about inhumanity and mainly referred to war.  "How is this hate so deep, lead us all so blindly killing killing, fools we are."  From this song quote one can understand that the artist is saying that when it comes to war, everyone kills the enemy not caring about who they are; they’re only job is to eliminate the opponent, making them ‘blind’.  The world would be a people will come to a truce or treaty, which will result in peace a lot faster.
